I can't believe it is already over 100˚ outside! What comes to mind is a
little Austrian mountain lake to cool off. Happily, the people who can
conveniently provide a similar experience for us are Claudine and
Burton Boeck! Let's all get together Saturday, July 20 at 3:00 p.m. at
their swimming hole. Burton will cook a brisket, the club will provide
drinks, and you all will provide appetizers, side dishes and desserts a la
Austria! Please let Heidi know whether or not you are coming, and
what you are bringing. As always, help with setup and cleanup is
needed.
A couple of weeks ago we gave a fond farewell to Norbert and Kala
Gregor upon their retirement and impending relocation to
Florida. Norbert expressed a wish for Tex-Mex cuisine, and Yasmine
found a great restaurant for us: La Hacienda Grill in Carrollton. The
decor was fun and the food was excellent. I'm proud to say the turnout
was also great. The club gave the Gregors a wonderful cookbook with
incredible images of Texas, Texas on the Plate. We signed the book
with our best wishes, and Norbert and Kala seemed genuinly touched
by our expressions of affection. So farewell and Auf Wiedersehen to
our dear friends!
